Meitar’s pharmaceutical group represents major multinational pharmaceutical companies, as well as medical device manufacturers. In order to serve the transactional, litigation, regulatory and other needs of our pharma clients, we offer a wide range of legal services including: regulatory compliance, class action and product liability litigation, antitrust, M&A and joint ventures, and manufacturing, distribution and other commercial agreements.
Meitar has gained extensive experience representing large ethical pharmaceutical companies in a variety of complex litigation matters, including class actions. We have represented our clients before all relevant adjudicative bodies in Israel, including administrative proceedings, involving: consumer fraud, misrepresentation, negligence in the development, testing, approval and marketing of drugs, clinical trials, regulatory issues (approval of new drugs, label updates, recalls, etc.) and distribution and agency agreements disputes. Our pharma group has acquired a deep knowledge of the legal, scientific and medical aspects of representing pharmaceutical companies in class action defenses, complex mass tort actions, personal injury cases, commercial disputes and regulatory proceedings.
Meitar’s pharma group also provides advice and counseling on complex regulatory matters arising under regulations issued by Israel’s Ministry of Health as well as other applicable laws. Our advice has included matters relating to advertisement of pharmaceutical products and restrictions on methods of marketing in Israel. We will assist our clients by reviewing and evaluating their regulatory submissions, including the review of product label and label changes.
Israel has also become an important site for many multinational pharma companies to conduct clinical studies, and we have advised our clients on all aspects of Israeli clinical trials, including commercial, regulatory and litigation matters.
In the course of our representation of multinational pharma and medical device manufacturers, we have developed close working relationships with prominent medical experts in Israel, who support Meitar’s team in pharmaceutical litigation.
