Independent Power Producers (IPP) Regulation

Independent Power Producers (IPP) Regulation

Israel’s Public Utilities Authority (PUA) has promulgated a large number of by-laws, decisions and rules aimed at regulating the electricity market in general and the independent power producer market specifically. During the past year, the PUA has published regulations with regard to conventional fuel fired stations, co-generation stations and renewable generation capacity. The PUA has also recently published certain feed-in tariffs, and regulation which applies to photovoltaic solar energy. In addition, the PUA is in the process of publishing new regulations aimed at facilitating the financing of the IPPs.
Meitar’s Energy Department works with IPP’s and their investors and financiers in structuring their transactions in compliance with these regulations.  We also appear before the PUA and other regulatory bodies on behalf of our IPP clients.
