Our team has experience working with domestic and overseas foreign government agencies involved in cyber security. We assist clients from a broad range of industries in addressing cyber security challenges, including financial services, healthcare, energy, telecommunications, Internet, and government contracting companies. These services include compliance with local and international laws and regulations, instituting cyber security measures and systems to mitigate risks, incident response, dispute resolution and strategic and tactical business intervention in the face of cyber threats.

Our firm represents a wide variety of companies in the cyber security field, from VCs to companies that grew out of the elite 8200 IDF unit, offensive and defensive cybersecurity businesses, and a vast majority of Israeli high-tech companies. Yuval Sasson heads the firm’s Cyber Security practice. He is a well-known lecturer and commentator on the legal and commercial issues relating to cyber and homeland security and defense operations. As a former Deputy to Israel’s State Prosecutor, Yuval has extensive experience handling high profile cases involving sensitive security matters.

Data Protection and Privacy
With more companies moving their data to the cloud, increased utilization of smartphones, smart objects (“internet of things”) and apps, realization of the value of personal information, as epitomized by social media sites, and the regulation of personal data on the rise, including the initiation of the European General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) with its extraterritorial effect, the management of personal information has become a major challenge for companies. In particular, most companies are required to comply with various laws in a number of jurisdictions, facing substantial fines and enforcement actions in the event of non-compliance.

Meitar’s data protection practice regularly extends creative and practical solutions to clients locally and abroad. Our services include privacy compliance assessment projects (including GDPR compliance), data protection audits, drafting and negotiating data processing agreements, preparation and implementation of website and app privacy policies, employer guidelines for monitoring employee e-mails, advising on the transfer of data outside Israel, EU-US Privacy Shield certification, interactions with regulators and enforcement proceedings, registration of databases in Israel, advice to website providers of geo-location products and services, advice to providers of voice recognition services, advice on restructuring product or service offerings to comply with local laws, and privacy issues in the context of M&A transactions and other due diligence reviews.

David Mirchin heads Meitar’s data protection team. He has extensive experience advising a wide variety of companies on data protection and privacy matters, including large pharmaceutical groups, banks, software providers and startups. His team is also unique because it combines experts in data protection law in Israel, the US and Europe.
