Biography
Prof. Dotan Oliar is an of counsel to the firm in the areas of intellectual property, technology and media regarding the protection, commercialization and enforcement of IP assets, including patents, copyrights, trademarks, trade secrets, designs and data.
Prof. Oliar serves as a faculty member of the University of Virginia School of Law, where he teaches courses on intellectual property law, entrepreneurship, internet law, art law and law and economics. His articles analyze doctrinal, theoretical and empirical aspects of intellectual property law and innovation and have been published in some of the world’s best legal periodicals. He was invited to teach at NYU, the University of Münster, Tel Aviv University and the Technion. Early in his legal career, prof. Oliar clerked for Justice Yaacov Kedmi of the Supreme Court.
Prof. Oliar received his doctorate and master’s degree from Harvard University, where he won a research excellence award and numerous scholarships; his master’s in economics from the University of Virginia, focusing on industrial organization and econometrics; and his bachelor’s degrees in law (summa cum laude, first in section) and in philosophy from Tel Aviv University, where he was admitted to the University’s excellence program.
